Frequently Asked Questions

Everest® CPAP & HeadRest®

1. Will my Everest CPAP and humidifier work when I travel overseas?
a. The Everest CPAP power supply will automatically convert local power sources rated between 100-240 volts to standard operating power. The only accessory needed is a plug adapter which transforms the standard U.S. 2-prong power plug into the appropriate foreign power plug. A separate power transformer is not required and should not be used.

b. You can purchase a power plug converter kit wherever luggage or electronics are sold; e.g., Kohl’s, JCPenney, Target, Radio Shack.
2. How do I know my Everest CPAP pressure setting?
a. When the CPAP blower is on (delivering therapy) the centimeters of water pressure (cmH2O) are shown on the CPAP display.
3. How do I know my ramp settings?
a. With the CPAP in the stand-by mode (plugged into power without the blower turned on) press the ramp button once – the patient-user interface is now enabled.

b. If the ramp has been set by your provider, the first screen you will see is the ramp duration time – this is the time over which the CPAP pressure will increase to your prescription pressure. Press the next button (On/Off button).

c. This screen displays the starting ramp pressure – the pressure setting your CPAP will begin to increase your pressure from over the ramp duration time.

d. If your provider has allowed you the ability to change your starting ramp pressure you will see two small triangles (pointing down and up) positioned over the ramp and humidifier buttons. You may change your ramp starting pressure here.
4. I’m going on vacation in the mountains. What do I have to do to compensate for altitude?
a. You don’t have to do a thing! The Everest CPAP automatically adjusts to any elevation up to 9,000 feet.
5. What is the warranty on the Everest CPAP and other components?
a. The CPAP and humidifier both have two year warranties. The battery has a one year warranty and the mobile power adapter has a three year warranty.
6. I love the battery! It will allow me to continue to use my CPAP when I go camping, boating, RVing – all the things I love to do. Is it ready to go when I receive it?
a. When you receive your battery, please charge it for at least five hours before attaching your CPAP. Then you should recharge it after every use.
7. Will the battery power my CPAP for a whole night?
a. The length of time the battery will power your CPAP varies depending on the heat setting of the humidifier. For instance, the battery will operate for 11 hours at 10 cmH20 with non-heated humidification. Heated humidification will reduce battery time by 50%.
8. How big is the travel bag?
a. The AEIOMed travel bag is 12” long by 7” wide by 10” high and is designed to hold the entire Everest integrated CPAP system including hose, manuals, power supply, battery and humidifier.
9. What size is the CPAP?
a. The dimension are 5”x6”x5” with a weight of 2.1 pounds without the humidifier.
10. I can’t get the Headrest to fit securely. What should I do?
a. The Headrest is uniquely designed to fit on a wide variety of patients. Additional instructions are available on the AEIOMed website.
11. I’m going to be taking a red-eye flight soon. Have any airlines approved the Everest for use on an airplane?
a. Everest has been approved for use by United and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). Check with your airline for their regulations. The battery has less than eight grams of Equivalent Lithium Content (ELC) which conforms to the FAA requirement in document 49CFR Part 171.8.
12. I really like what I see! Where can I buy your products?
a. If you are a patient: The CPAP is a prescription device and can be purchased through a home medical equipment (HME) provider or on the Internet.

b. If you are a physician, HME, or sleep lab: For the name and contact information of an AEIOMed sales representative in your area, please call Customer Support at 866.722.2507.
13. What is DataRest™ compliance and why should I use it?
a. DataRest compliance software makes it easy to retrieve, save, print, and e-mail information collected from the Everest 2 CPAP system. The information collected on a smart card will aid your physician, sleep lab, or HME with tracking your sleep patterns to ensure adequate therapy. Your physician, sleep lab, or HME will let you know if you need this accessory.
14. How do I erase data on a smart card?
a. There is no real need to ever erase the smart card as a separate step. The Everest CPAP and DataRest compliance software manage this automatically.
15. Do I need to have the Docking Station connected and a card inserted, when I use the Everest CPAP?
a. No. The CPAP collects compliance events and saves them inside the CPAP.
16. What happens when I insert a smart card into the CPAP Docking Station?
a. If the card contains prescription data from your physician, sleep lab, or HME, the CPAP is updated with these settings, and the card is automatically erased.

b. In the event that the smart card inadvertently contains data for a different CPAP, the CPAP will indicate this, not change any CPAP settings, and not erase the card. In this case, please notify your physician, sleep lab, or HME immediately.

c. If the card does not contain prescription data the CPAP will copy compliance data from the CPAP onto the smart card. The data in the CPAP is not erased. Any data previously on the smart card is replaced with the new data.
17. What happens if the card is lost after sending it to the physician, sleep lab, or HME?
a. Simply insert another card into the CPAP (one not containing prescription data), and forward to your physician, sleep lab, or HME.
18. Since the data in the CPAP is not erased, what happens when it gets full?
a. After the CPAP compliance storage fills, the newest compliance events replace the oldest events. The CPAP holds approximately 1 year’s worth of compliance events.
19. What happens with the Compliance Events if a different patient uses the CPAP?
a. Simply select the option in the clinician setup to clear all compliance data and statistics in the CPAP.
20. Does the smart card contain any patient information?
a. No. All the data contained on the smart card is not human readable and only understood by the CPAP and the PC Compliance software. The PC Compliance software matches the compliance data from a specific CPAP to the correct patient.
21. Do I need to open the PC Compliance Software program to read the compliance data on the card?
a. No, simply insert the data card into the card reader and the compliance data is transferred to the PC Compliance storage.
22. How does the PC Compliance Software know which patient should get the data from the data card?
a. By matching the CPAP serial number to the patient, the PC Compliance software eliminates the step of selecting the patient then loading the data from the card. The PC Compliance software steps you through the appropriate tasks with it’s To Do List.
23. Since the PC Compliance Software requires a browser, does it require an internet connection?
a. No, the program resides completely on the computer and does not communicate with any other computer. However, we advise making sure your computer is up to date with Microsoft updates.
24. Which versions of Windows does the PC Compliance Software require?
a. Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The software does not run on Windows Vista or the Mac. To express interest in these Operating Systems, please send us an email at info@aeiomed.com.
25. What about firewall and anti-virus software?
a. In order to assure a smooth installation, we suggest disabling any virus protection software during installation (you may disconnect the network connection during installation if you wish). In addition, depending on the protection software you are using, you may need to enter some of the PC Compliance Software settings into the protection software. Please see the PC Compliance documentation or contact AEIOMed for assistance.
